Since we have a fairly small room we had some slats left over, my father in law made it in to a stair gate for us which has saved us some money there to. it’s great, when we want to leave the room now we can pop William in the playpen and he can roll around his section of the floor with all his toys, we aren’t constantly telling him NO! Although he did manage to reach through the bars earlier, grab my photo frame, wriggle it back through and commence eating it. That kid will eat anything except actual food! William can go anywhere rolling now – he is getting very accurate at that, he has also started working on the old wriggling commando crawl. He still won’t sit though – sitting is the worst thing to happen to him, ever! He doesn’t get that he would have so much more fun with his toys if he would sit up *sigh* Can you tell Mama is getting impatient now?

He has been off his food today which means that his teeth are playing up again. He never complains about teething but his cheeks go bright red and he refuses most foods except cold ones from the fridge or toast. So that’s what he had for tea, toast followed by chilled fruit puree. Whatever works! I just wish he had some teeth to show for his effort, my poor little man.

Williams Nana and Grandad and Uncle Dave are coming up Thursday fingers crossed (snow predicted apparently!) and they will be bringing the christmas present dad made him, I can’t wait to get some pictures to show you all :-)

Presents

Ok first off, what’s annoying me today…still. When my in laws brought William home Sunday night my father in law told me they took William to Clarks, our big shoe store, and tried to buy him his first pair of shoes. Right FIRST – why does a 7 month old who can’t sit or crawl let alone walk need shoes? And SECOND and more important – I want to b buy my little boy his first pair of shoes. The really annoying thing is that if this was my parents, which it wouldn’t be because they just wouldn’t, I could tell them to skip on and to use the common sense they were meant to have been born with but since it’s not my parents I smiled politely and said “That’s very kind but if you don’t mind Mummy would like to buy William his first shoes.” Oh man, when he said they’d been to the shoe shop I about near cried, I thought he was about to hand over Williams first pair of proper shoes and then it would have been ruined, I’d not get the chance to buy them. I don’t know…maybe this is just me? But I want to do my babies first with him – first shoes, first haircut, riding a bike etc. etc. I don’t want that taken from me. They’ve had their firsts with Matt – why steal Williams? I guess they don’t see it like that, they just think they are helping us out *sigh* it’s such a hard situation!

Anyway…enough. On to the fun stuff. We get to go chose Williams professional photos today that I had done last week. We already know we have a 7 x 5 as I paid for that up front but I think I have got Matt to agree that if the photos are good we can get a pack of them :-) I’m so excited to see what they turned out like. We can pick them up from 10am but since it’s 9:18am and Matt is fast asleep I’m guessing we’ll go a bit later lol. I get so impatient, you can imagine what a nightmare I am at this time of year when all the presents are sat under the tree.

Yesterday Rach came up to see us, she brought presents for William from her and our other Rachel friend who couldn’t make it as she is poorly. William (read: mummy) opened the presents yesterday because Rach wanted us too and because he just has so darn many I think it’s better to drag it out a little. So he got:

Rach:

A christmas stocking with his name written on it. I was SO happy, I wanted one of these but they were all so expensive and I just didn’t have the extra cash.

and

A soft keyboard that can be tied to the side of the babys cot (crib) for them to kick and play with

Other Rachel friend:

A Baby’s First Christmas cup and bowl set

and

A book full of short stories based on Disney films :)

and so I don’t forget as I might need to come back to this list for thankyou letters ;-) last week in his Secret Santa (read: Judith) he got: A set of 12 farm animal books

Oh, William has this huge obsession with paper. He just loves to eat it. The other day I gave him my bus ticket to play with once we were on the bus, looked back and he’d EATEN it. I need to be more careful with the paper. I’m still not used to him being able to move anywhere, two nights go I caught him eating the newspaper. Oh and last week he was chewing on a Virgin Media flyer that came through the door, but do you think he’ll eat his weetabix and breakfast time – yeah right!

Hello everyone,

Mummy and I have been very busy the last few days, mummy is being lazy (and she says I am) so I get to update her blog today – how cool is that?

Wednesday we went to a place called Tubby Bears, I don’t know why it’s called that it’s full of balls and big soft shape things I can lick and roll on, no bears anywhere though. We met up with my friends Evie, Frankie and Brandon, their mummies had to come along too which is a shame, our mummies always stop us doing the funniest things! I got a bit tired while I was there so mummy let me sleep on her shoulder, but first I decided I needed to be a bit sick, so I just did that on her shoulder too – very easy! After we finished playing there mummy and Evies mummy Cheryl walked us in to town. Mummy entered me in a cute baby competition. She says I probably won’t win (how rude!!) but she wanted the 7 x 5 photo that cost only £2.95, cheapskate! I was very good ans smiled at the camera, mummy thought I did it because the woman was funny but I was laughing AT the woman not WITH her.

We came home after than and Evie and her mummy came too. There were going to go home but then there was this BIG panic because Cheryl’s mummy had lost her house keys. I thought maybe Evie ate them but it turned out they were in Evies Daddy’s car! Silly adults. So Evie got to stay for tea and play with me all evening. I was very mad with mummy because she made me go to bed at 6:30 and Evie got to stay up until 10pm. How unfair is that?

Yesterday we went to town and met my friends Dexter and Sophie, again the mummies were there! It was good though because mummy gave me this really pretty paper to eat. She said I was meant to be looking at the set of books inside the paper but why would I do that, the paper was so much nicer, all crinkly and yummy! Mummy got some pretty paper too but she was more interested in the cup inside, it had spider pig on it – whoever that is?! After that we met up with Evie and her mummy again. My mummy was kind and gave Evie my old pushchair which Evie and her mummy love but silly mummy, she forgot to give them the rain cover, so we handed that over and then Evies mummy took my mummy for a yummy looking drink and muffin. I wanted some but mummy says I am too little to eat muffins and besides it was hers anyway…and she tells me to share. While we were in there I spent ages watching these two weird people on the sofa behind us, they kept putting their mouths together and making wet noises. My Mummy and Evie’s mummy said it was “inappropriate” and mummy covered my eyes and said I was too young to look at such things.

Today my Daddy was home, he’s been gone all week and I was happy to see him. mummy can be an awful bore sometimes. Mummy and Daddy took me in to town (we spend alot of time there you know!!) and we went to this HUGE white sparkly place that was in the middle of the shopping centre. When we went inside it there was a lady wearing green and red and a pointy hat and on a big seat was a big fat man in a red suit, he had a funny white beard and eyebrows too. Daddy said his name was Santa. I had my photo taken but the  light was bright and I pulled a funny face. The man in the red suit gave me a toy all wrapped up in more of that pretty paper. I wanted to eat the paper but mummy took it away from me. My toy was fun too. Mummy hung it off my pushchair and I enjoyed giggling at it. Mummy said I was too cute.

Tomorrow Mummy says we might be going to see Great Grandma and GreatGrandad as well as Grandad and some people I have never met before, there are my cousins apparently. Daddy says he hopes it snows that way we will have to stay at home. If you ask me Mummy and Daddy aren’t the most social people around. Mummy said she doesn’t want to go because sometimes people compare me to my cousins and say I’m not doing as well with things like sleeping through the night and sitting. I don’t see what the fuss is about and Mummy said if anyone says anything rude about me they better watch their back because it doesn’t matter at all since I’m so snuggly good and devilishly good looking :-) I love my mummy.

Love William

Long Day

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I have a few long days coming up. Matt is at some conference or other and he is going to be out until late in the evening. This morning he was meant to leave the house at 8am but the silly man didn’t set an alarm and trusted William to wake him up. Yah. That worked. William decided today was the day to sleep until 8:15am. Although Matt was up and out by 8:30 so very impressive. He should be back by about 8pm, maybe a little earlier if he’s lucky.

William and I spent most of the day with Louise and Owen. Louise is the best friend I’ve made in Derby and we always have a good time when we meet up. We don’t really do much, lately I go up to her house for lunch, the children play on the floor and we have a good old gossip. Everyone wins. Today we did take Owen down to baby clinic to have him weighed and looked at by the health visitor because the poor little man has been really quite poorly lately. I also stopped off and picked up an anniversary card for Matt since..ummm..yeah..we have been married 2 years today lol. We forgot! I doubt I’ll get a card since Matt won’t have had time to get one but it’s hardly a big deal. Matts parents gave us £50 so we got a Wii game for ourselves and then I might have spent the rest on William :-) I couldn’t help it. I wanted to get him a set of stacky cups which he loves and some nice soft blocks for an extra christmas present from us.

On the topic of presents William now has some under the tree that aren’t from mummy and daddy. Louise gave him one this morning and when I got him I got a surprise package from a lovely girl I used to work with who had posted a present for William and a card for me. I was so pleased as I didn’t expect her to send anything more than a christmas card. I wasn’t very excited about christmas but now some presents are arriving it feels more fun. We also got our first three christmas cards today as well, I thought we weren’t going to get any the rate we were going lol.

William is now rolling master extraordinaire, unless of course, he doesn’t want to. In which case he doesn’t. However he does roll well enough to jam himself under the sofa lol. And this evening while I was running the bath for him I put him in the middle of the bed and put In the Night Garden (GAH!) on the laptop for him to watch. When I looked back he’d rolled over and spun himself 90 degrees and was merrily “typing” away on the laptop. I wish I had the camera to catch that moment, it was so cute!

William is also eating like a trooper. Today he devoured 22oz milk (probably have 30 by the days end) half a rush mushed with milk, a slice of toast, a jar of lamb stew, two pots of apple and strawberry, nearly a whole jar of casserole and a fromage frais. He seems to be over his sicky stage although he did hold a mouthful of apple in his mouth and then kindly deposited it on my shoulder! Nice!

He is the main character of a show called In the Night Garden (search it on Youtube) quite possibly the worst children’s show I have ever seen and that includes the Tellytubbies. Unfortunately for me, William loves this show and he especially love Iggle Piggle. Now I’m not stupid, it drives me crazy, I’m not going to inflict more pain and agony upon myself by buying a toy Iggle Piggle. No. My in laws did it to me. I.HATE.IGGLE.PIGGLE.

Mama Post

This is really more of a mama post because well…I haven’t seen William much today. But first, let’s cover what little I have to say on William ;-)

He has a STINKING cold. Snot, coughing, sneezing, runny eyes. You name it my poor little boy has it.
He lost his appetite again for a few days – it’s back again now. He still loves his milk though!
He’s spent all day at Grandma and Grandads being spoiled rotten.
He’s snuggled up in bed fast asleep now – that’s after he pooed in the bath and mama had to clean it all out. What a way to end the day!

So today was my first “intro” day at school. I had a great time. I’m in a reception class, ages 4 -5 years, so out of my age range which is usually 10 – 11 yrs but it was wonderful. Before I started teacher training I was a nursery nurse so I do know this age fairly well. The staff were lovely especially my class teacher. She showed me around the whole school (which is tiny) and introduced me to all the other staff, she even provided me with coffee – a guaranteed way to cheer up a mummy of a 7 month old. Most of my day was spent covered in glue or paint. I forgot how messy this age was, I’ve just had to removed red and blue poster paint from my only pair of black trousers so I can wear them again tomorrow. I heard talk of salt dough tomorrow so I’m guessing we are making christmas tree decorations. Oh and it’s red day tomorrow so I better go dig out my red scarf. OOOH the best bit? My class is tiny – 18 children :-D my previous class it was just me and 36 9-10 yr olds. I love the number 18 now!

Lazy mama

We were meant to be going to PEEP yesterday but I was to lazy for the walk/bus journey and besides William was in a heck of a bad mood – it was Monday so no surprise there then!! He took a HUGE afternoon nap as well so there would have been no point being at the group anyway.
Today we haven’t done much either. William is in a better mood, although he was sick again, all the phlegm causing I think. He didn’t seem to care though, he’s all smiles and giggles. AND…he rolled over from his stomach to his back three times :-D I’m so proud of my little man. He’s been going from back to front for ages but he always got stuck there. I’ve also noticed he is really able to get his knees up a fair bit when on his tummy so watch this space of crawling. He still doesn’t sit though ;-)

Tomorrow my little boy is 7 months old. He isn’t so little. Though not as big as it appeared he might be at one point. He was predicted to be a 10lb+ baby and came out bang on the average 7lb 9oz. Then in his first few weeks he STACKED on the pounds, leap from the 50th percentile to the 75th. In the last two months he’s dropped down to just above the 25th percentile. I’m not bothered, though apparently some people think I should be (!) he is clearly a happy healthy boy. So he isn’t the biggest baby around, does it matter? he now weighs a very respectable 17lb 5oz.

poorly weekend

William has just got home after spending an extra day at Grandma and Grandads *sigh* NOT what I had planned. Friday morning I had a gall bladder attack and I just couldn’t take care of him so sent him over to his Grandmas. Luckily after lots of painkillers and 2 days rest I’m feeling lots better. Saturday Matt got sick with a stomach bug so he was in bed all day as well, so good job William wasn’t here though I have a sneaky suspicion he’s spreading the germs since his Grandma now has said stomach bug. Oh dear Will ;-)

This week is a very different week for me and William:

Monday: PEEP at 1pm. This is our last one until after Christmas. After Christmas Daddy will be taking William along to PEEP.

Tuesday: Daddy is home, we have nothing planned yet!

Wednesday: No softplay meet up this week, Mummy and William are going back to Worcestershire to see the local school play and Nana and Grandad. In theory tonight William is going across to Grandads and Grandmas – NOT what I want again but they say it will be easier and since they are doing me a favour…..

Thursday: William at Grandmas. Mummy has got to go visit the school I will be teaching in after Christmas

Friday: Another school day for mummy. William is staying home with Daddy – that should be interesting

Saturday: Mummy is going out with friends in the evening :-) not sure where William will be, with Daddy I think
